Our History

JuanCa and I met on the 28th of January of 2023 at Maria Andrea and Salome’s, two of my close friends, birthday celebration. The night began at a pregame at Salome’s apartment, where we were supposed to meet up to get ready for the night.

Later that night we went to Monarca, a new bar from La 85. After many looks, smiles, music and a couple “guaros”, JuanCa invited me to the dance floor, and after that first song, we wouldn't stop dancing together for the remainder of the night. I kept the night going with some friends from college at another bar, while JuanCa stayed at Monarca.

The next morning, I looked for him on Instagram and sent him a message to see how the rest of the night had gone. That was the first of who knows how many messages, and the beginning of our now everlasting streak of talking every day. Through those conversations we started to see that we had an incredible connection. A connection that flowed until the day we had our first date, where that river only began to flow stronger.

One month after, on the 25th of February to be exact, I accidentally asked Vero to be my girlfriend with the help of a couple cocktails. In the most random moment of the night, while we were out with Vero’s college friends at Chamois bar, I slipped and out of the blue asked her to be my girlfriend. My thoughts came out as words, and to my relief she said yes with as much excitement as I was trying to keep inside.

Since then, Vero and I have built a library of memories together, but not only us two, but also with our families who have become as intertwined as us, and who have contributed beautifully to our story.

After a year and four months of unforgettable experiences, I knew it was time to pull the trigger. On June 26th, 2024 while Vero and her parents were in Houston for the opening game of the Copa America where Colombia would play, and planned since October of the year before, I decided to propose to Vero to spend the rest of my life. This happened at the  Houston Aquarium, where after a couple joyful tears, she gave me a resounding yes!

Today with the same gitters from that first night at Monarca, we are preparing for this new chapter, knowing that it’s only the beginning of a life filled with shared dreams, tantalizing experiences, and living them along side all of y’all.
